Compositions for Concert Band - Grade 2.5

Belle Journee - Grade 2.5

Belle Journee

This upbeat overture displays the flutes, oboes, and mallets in bell-like sounds contrasting with tutti brass and woodwinds. An optional trumpet solo is one of many features in the flowing lyrical section before the return of the theme and coda.

*Recorded by Washington Winds, Edward S. Petersen, Conductor

Festival on the Rivers - Grade 2.5

Festivall on the Rivers

Here is an exciting new overture for the young concert band in the conventional A-B-A form. A dance-like main theme is scored in the woodwinds with a bright, driving brass and percussion accompaniment. A short alto saxophone solo highlights the lush B section before returning to the main theme and coda. Excellent for concert and festival.

*Recorded by Washington Winds, Edward S. Petersen, Conductor

Ghost in the Attic - Grade 2.5

Ghost in the Attic

Ghost in the Attic is a humorous and delightful musical adventure depicting a dancing ghost that refuses to leave the attic. Mysterious sounds are heard as the ghost is chased around the attic. This clever original work for young bands will work perfectly as a novelty on your next concert!

The Great Outdoors Overture - Grade 2.5

Great Outdoor Overture

Spirited and lively, this energetic overture practically plays itself! Your students will love the syncopated rhythms and active percussion parts of the energetic allegro sections. The brief lyric middle section features appealing melodies that add contrast before the action picks up again for lively finish.

One Small Step For Man... - Grade 2.5

One Small Step For Man...

This composition depicts the admiration that Americans felt as the American flag was being placed on the moon by astronaut, John Armstrong on July 20, 1969! A great tribute to the advances humans have made since that moment over 35 years ago. This emotional composition opens with a majestic fanfare followed by a slow lyrical section and returns with a powerful closing statement. The 1st clarinets cross the break, and the 1st trumpet's highest note is E with an optional G.

The Sky’s the Limit - Grade 2.5

The Sky's the Limit

An exciting composition that will inspire your students to reach new plateaus! It's great for teaching students syncopation and introducing sixteenth notes. The syncopation is not difficult and the sixteenth notes are only in short diatonic runs for one beat or less. The harmonies are quite interesting, definitely tonal, but not always what you might expect. The 1st clarinets cross the break, and the 1st trumpet's highest note is F. A strong choice for your next concert or festival performance!
