It offers the opportunity to teach younger musicians to play expressively while using legato and staccato articulations yet maintaining a blended and balanced ensemble sound. Warriors of Beijing - Grade 2 (Band) |
This exciting piece was inspired by the ancient battles of the first emperor of China in 221 B.C. and his warriors. This Emperor's reign included unification, the building of the Great Wall and his endless search for immortality. The forceful nature of the piece creates a picture of the 8,000 Terracotta Warriors buried in front of his tomb to defend him in the afterlife. |

This piece is exciting, and uses dissonance and clashing rhythms to portray advancing warriors! Inspired by a trip to Beijing and the vast terracotta army of warriors protecting their long dead emperor, Qin Shi Huang. The tension builds musically as we follow the emperor in the unification of China, the building of the Great Wall and his endless search for immortality. Outstanding! |
